Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and certifications, along with an active TS/SCI Security Clearance. They should have a current DoD 8570 baseline certification for IAT II, such as GSEC, Security+, SCNP, or SSCP. A minimum of 5 years of Cyber Security experience and 2 years of IT experience in Networking/System Administration is required. Candidates should have a working knowledge of security system controls, policies, and operational security measures, as well as familiarity with the DoD STIG process. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

The ISSO will work in a constantly changing regulatory environment and must adapt quickly to change. They will identify key stakeholders in Assessment and Authorization (A&A) efforts and ensure system documentation reflects current security configurations. Responsibilities include maintaining cybersecurity procedures, analyzing and applying Federal cybersecurity guidance, communicating system security posture, and assisting in the preparation of documentation such as System Security Plans and Risk Assessment Reports. The role involves performing Risk Management Framework activities for Authority to Operate, continuous monitoring of security controls, and advising system owners on security matters.
