Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Radiology Technology from a college, technical school, or hospital-based Radiologic Technology program
  • Cardiac Interventional Radiography (RI) certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 60 days, or Radiography (R) certification from ARRT within 60 days, or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 60 days
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Ability to work primarily days with night, weekend, and holiday on-call involvement

Responsibilities

  • Schedule procedures and appropriate patient preparations, prepare, position, and instruct patients, and adjust equipment for procedures
  • Be familiar with a wide variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures and oversee/coordinate with nursing staff, scrub techs, other techs, or students throughout exams
  • Produce satisfactory images via digital imaging or hard film and present them for radiologist interpretation
  • Maintain, order, and evaluate products used for procedures
  • Demonstrate high level of patient care skills to assist nursing staff with critically ill patients
  • Assist with the collection and maintenance of records as needed by Radiology Department, Quality Department, Joint Commission, OSHA, and others
  • Monitor all hemodynamics during procedures
  • Understand human vasculature, including cerebral circulation, and anticipate physician needs for supplies, equipment, and medications while maintaining a sterile environment
  • Comprehend and interpret complex clinical subject matter related to the specialty
  • Analyze data, formulate appropriate plans of action, and demonstrate critical thinking skills
  • Perform specialized procedures using sterile techniques and specialized equipment
