Requirements

  • Adheres to the Organization’s Compliance Program, including all regulatory and policy requirements
  • Knowledge of radiological equipment operation and quality control in accordance with policies, procedures, and training
  • Compliance with state and federal regulations, HIPAA policies, and sterile technique standards
  • Ability to review patient-specific procedure orders to determine needed materials/supplies
  • Skills in patient preparation, positioning, shaving, prepping, transfers, and transport
  • Proficiency in inputting patient data into C-Arm and administering fluoroscopy
  • Capability to draw up and label intravenous medication per organization policy
  • Experience processing x-ray images and archiving to repositories, CDs, or DVDs
  • Understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) tools and practices
  • Ability to maintain accurate, complete medical records, perform audits, and ensure billing accuracy (CPT/ICD9 codes)
  • Skills in inventory and supply management, equipment inspection, and hazardous waste disposal

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians in performing interventional radiology procedures
  • Performs patient and procedure room preparations, including stocking trays, cleaning post-procedure, and documenting
  • Explains procedures to patients, answers questions, and addresses concerns
  • Acts as scrub assistant during procedures, maintaining sterile technique
  • Inputs patient data into C-Arm and supports physicians with fluoroscopy
  • Processes and archives x-ray images per policies and regulations
  • Supports quality standards through CQI, regulatory compliance, and action plans
  • Maintains medical records integrity, files paperwork, and conducts audits
  • Ensures environmental integrity, cleans areas, inspects equipment daily, and recommends repairs/replacements
  • Manages supplies efficiently to prevent waste and assists with inventory ordering
  • Participates in Governing Body and CQI meetings, communicates with physicians, and addresses concerns
  • Trains and orients new employees
  • Reviews procedures for accurate and timely patient billing, documenting charges and verifying codes
