Requirements

Candidates should possess a strong knowledge of data center architecture, including the minimum design requirements for network, compute, and storage racks, as well as layers 2/3 and virtualization platforms. Proven experience in a colocation, inside plant, or telecommunications facilities engineer role in a large-scale data center or telecom environment is required, along with a solid understanding of physical design standards and IT security best practices. Furthermore, a strong understanding of public cloud infrastructure and cloud-native applications, ideally with experience in scaling a geographically diverse production network, is desired. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, MCSE, VCP, or Autodesk Certified Professional would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

The Infrastructure Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and creating layouts of data center infrastructure, including facilities structure, cabinets, overhead ladders, and raceways, structured cabling, aisles, cabinets, mechanical, electrical, servers, storage, and networking equipment. They will perform capacity planning and resource allocation, monitor and optimize infrastructure performance, troubleshoot and resolve issues, implement and maintain security measures, plan and execute infrastructure upgrades and migrations, document configurations and procedures, stay abreast of technological developments, and utilize AutoCAD design experience to create detailed technical drawings and models.
