Requirements

  • Functions in an administrative and leadership role
  • Knowledge of implementing infection prevention plans, Standard Precautions, hospital-acquired infection surveillance, environmental monitoring, outbreak management, regulatory compliance, and educational programs
  • Ability to serve as a consultant to physicians, staff, patients, families, and the community
  • Skills in ongoing implementation and evaluation of infection control performance improvement plans
  • Experience supervising data collection for regulatory reporting (e.g., New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services, CDC, County Health Departments)
  • Current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., TJC, CDC, OSHA, U.S. Department of Health & Senior Services)
  • Ability to act as liaison with County Departments of Health and regulatory agencies

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Virtua Infection Prevention Plan at the local level and create an effective hospital-wide infection control program
  • Enforce Standard Precautions, conduct hospital-acquired infection surveillance, specific environmental monitoring, outbreak management, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver educational programs on safe patient care practices
  • Develop and manage the local Infection Control Program in cooperation with the System Infection Control Committee
  • Conduct annual risk assessments and gap analyses with the Virtua Infection Control Officer to prioritize and implement infection control initiatives locally and system-wide
  • Collaborate with local management and leadership to systematically implement policies, procedures, and improvement initiatives, including educational programs for hospital leaders, physicians, and staff
  • Oversee and consult with ambulatory areas associated with hospital license or affiliation
  • Serve as local content expert, interpret regulations, and make recommendations on prevention and control of communicable diseases
  • Act as liaison between the local Virtua campus and County Departments of Health
  • Participate in system meetings of the Infection Control Committee
