Requirements

  • Understand and comply with safety policies and procedures; perform all tasks safely; set safety standards; identify and reduce safety risks
  • Advanced multi-craft training and knowledge in mechanical, electrical, robotic/automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, and maintain AC and DC drives/motors
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot PLC programs; modify and/or write PLC programs as required
  • Welding skills as required by location
  • Ability to fabricate and install electrical, piping, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment
  • Experience with shop work using machining and shop equipment (lathes, drills, milling machines, etc.) as required
  • Skills in safely troubleshooting equipment issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to minimize repeat failures

Responsibilities

  • Proactively maintain, improve, install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, robotic/automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems/processes/equipment
  • Install/troubleshoot/maintain AC and DC drives/motors
  • Troubleshoot PLC programs; modify and/or write PLC programs as required
  • Weld, fabricate, and install various electrical, piping, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment as required
  • Perform shop work using machining and shop equipment as required
  • Safely troubleshoot and assess equipment issues/failures; implement effective corrective actions
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis and follow-up to ensure optimum corrective actions and minimize repeat failures; assist in developing/modifying procedures
  • Drive proactive maintenance processes; perform and optimize Preventive/Predictive Maintenance tasks/procedures to eliminate unplanned failures
  • Communicate effectively with operations personnel to identify/resolve equipment conditions impacting safety, quality, or productivity; develop operator skills
  • Document all maintenance activity accurately in the Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Actively participate in Sonoco’s continuous improvement efforts and Maintenance Excellence Process
