Requirements

  • Background in computer engineering, computer science, systems engineering, or related computer technology
  • Experience managing a technical staff with expertise in Industry Standard Server, Storage, and Networking products
  • Experience with certification of major Operating Systems (OS) such as Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL, SUSE, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively manage diverse test tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, fluid environment
  • Ability to respond effectively to changing program requirements, updates to product test plans, and compressed schedules while ensuring program development goals are met
  • Understanding of new product development and test processes required for release to production
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical leads, testers, third-party product vendors, and engineering managers to design/develop test plans, track development issues, and implement solutions
  • Creative and open-minded leadership to adapt to rapidly evolving AI market and HPE & AI product offerings
  • Manages at least 4 employees, typically 8-15 direct reports (team of 20 systems engineers in this role)

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct and ongoing leadership, operational direction, mentoring, and support for development of a growing team of 20 systems engineers
  • Manages staff activities in solving common and complex business/technical issues within established policies
  • Has accountability for results of a major program in terms of cost, direction, and people management
  • Provides guidance on process improvements and recommends changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy
  • Plans, manages, and monitors operational/tactical activities of staff, which may involve strategic issues
  • Recruits direct staff members
  • Leads a team of individual contributors testing and validating new products, enhancements, and updates
  • Coordinates projects for systems software, including operating systems, networking, utilities, and Internet-related tools
  • Manages and controls activities within a single country or sub-region
  • Works collaboratively with technical leads and testers to design and develop appropriate test plans
  • Coordinates with third-party product vendors and engineering managers to track development issues and implement solutions
