Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years mobile equipment operations experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- Required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, sit and climb or balance
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Capable of working flexible hours when required
- Must be able to tolerate conditions associated with no air conditioning or heat
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-start checks, start-up, park-up, shutdown, and communication procedures in accordance with manufacturers’ and/or site requirements
- Understand and follow emergency procedures in case of emergency
- Practice safe operating practices, including operating controls, monitoring gauges and systems, conducting safety checks, and use of two-way radio
- Operate equipment within vehicle limitations as specified by the manufacturer and/or site requirements
- Operate the machine in a manner that maximizes tire life and equipment life
- Maintain records in accordance with site requirements
- Carry out loading and hauling operations with all types of materials in all weather conditions by day and night; within safety requirements and accurate delivery of material to assigned dump location
- Complete work in accordance with the agreed plan and outcomes and within the operating capacities of the equipment
- Achieve zero equipment damage due to negligence or not following procedure
- Report any safety or mechanical problems with the equipment in accordance with company procedures
- Perform other work required or as directed
- Conduct inspection, documentation, and escalation of equipment issues in an open pit mining production environment
