Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive EHS experience in industrial settings

Responsibilities

  • Lead the site's emergency response program, including developing, maintaining, and implementing the Emergency Action Plan and the site BORP (Business Occupancy and Resumption Plan)
  • Serve as the primary contact and coordinator during any on-site emergency, working with external agencies and the Emergency Response Team
  • Organize and lead regular emergency preparedness drills and exercises to test response effectiveness and identify areas for improvement
  • Demonstrate knowledge of facility life safety systems including fire alarm and toxic gas monitoring systems
  • Act as the EHS technical expert on cross-functional teams for the installation, modification, and decommissioning of new or existing equipment
  • Review equipment specifications and engineering plans to ensure all EHS requirements and safety features, such as interlocks and guards, are incorporated prior to installation
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure they adhere to all facility and regulatory EHS standards during installation
  • Perform pre-startup safety reviews and validate that equipment is installed and used according to manufacturer's recommendations and EHS requirements
  • Provide support implementing the site & global IMS program, including ISO 14001, 45001, 22301 as well as the global Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) certifications
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses; implement preventive measures
  • Submit environmental reporting, waste management, air/water quality monitoring, and sustainability initiatives
  • Deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and leadership
  • Serve as liaison with regulatory bodies and external auditors as related to EHS responsibilities
  • Lead emergency preparedness and response planning
  • Mentor junior EHS staff and promote continuous improvement
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and programs
