Requirements

  • Lives and breathes Engineering with enthusiasm for software architecture and technical topics
  • Strong Product Centric mindset, building technical direction and strategy based on defined Product Strategy
  • Experience in Testing Automation, general QA best practices, and advocating for testing in day-to-day Product development
  • Experience with building native Mobile Apps (iOS and Android), either hands-on or as part of successful delivery teams
  • Strong affinity for UI development across platforms (Web and Mobile), considering it equally important as server-side

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction and ongoing leadership for the department driving the Platform Strategy, while collaborating with the engineering leadership team of Lounge by Zalando
  • Drive delivery of a high-performance, resilient, and scalable distributed system landscape handling large amounts of data, enabling high pace of change and innovation by working upstream with development teams
  • Create and maintain strategic and tactical operations, resource plans, goals, and priorities based on business and technology roadmaps and functional objectives, ensuring team understanding of product strategy and technology roadmaps
  • Drive proof of concepts, pilots, and technology evaluations to accelerate onboarding of new technologies and solutions
  • Drive continuous improvement and lead a group of Engineering Managers overseeing several autonomous delivery teams (Web Platform Team, Mobile Platform Team, Lounge SRE Team, and Product Team responsible for Loyalty program)
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and operational excellence for the three Platform Teams, while closely collaborating with cross-functional Product Squads
