Senior Frontend Engineer

Position Overview

Cambly is seeking a talented Senior Frontend Engineer passionate about revolutionizing English language learning. As part of a dynamic engineering team, you will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver high-performance features on a robust and scalable codebase. You will be a key contributor to feature development and have significant ownership of Cambly's entire Frontend platform. Our application is built using NextJS, React, and TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Conceive, design, build, and launch new user-facing features.
• Lead the development of new features and improvements for Cambly’s Student and Tutor experience.
• Optimize performance to ensure a smooth and high-quality teaching and learning experience.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to build product experiences that help students find the perfect tutor, create learning plans, and build English fluency.
• Maintain high code quality through code reviews, testing, and adherence to best practices.

Example Projects

• Building an engaging and effective tutor discovery experience.
• Creating an AI-powered classroom experience with personalized lesson content.
• Developing post-lesson activities tailored to individual learner improvement areas.

Requirements

• 3+ years of full-stack development experience.
• 2+ years of experience with React.
• Experience working with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Experience building and maintaining production systems using tools like Lighthouse, Sentry, New Relic, etc.
• Good understanding of frontend technologies, patterns, and best practices.
• Good understanding of backend systems, patterns, and best practices.
• Passion for building products that have a real impact on users.

Compensation Package

• Base Salary: $130,000 - $160,000 USD
• Equity: Pre-IPO Stock Options
• Benefits: All full-time employees are eligible for equity compensation and benefits.
