Requirements

  • Ability to drive sales and profit through effective merchandise presentation, pricing, signing, inventory management, budgeting, forecasting, economic trend assessment, and financial report analysis (e.g., P&L, OPIS)
  • Knowledge of Sam's Club Meat Prepared Food and Freezer/Cooler standards, including product evaluation, packaging, sanitation, food safety compliance (e.g., FDA, OSHA), equipment reviews, recipe guides, backroom organization, and sales floor layout
  • Skills in managing performance gaps, production planning, process improvements, and adjustments based on business conditions
  • Expertise in overseeing food safety standards, cold chain compliance, temperature/storage, sanitation, date coding, product rotation, and recalls
  • Proficiency in budgeting for sales, expenses, wages, monitoring club indexing, and maintaining staffing levels within guidelines
  • Experience working as part of a management team, including opening/closing procedures, communication, merchandising discussions, scheduling, and issue escalation
  • Capability to plan production, labor, and execution for major events (e.g., holidays, seasonal demands) based on production plans, weather, local events, and member traffic projections
  • Ability to ensure membership growth through improving member experience, building relationships, business visits, COTC merchandise requests, and training member service associates
  • Skills in coordinating job-related activities, developing stakeholder relationships, supporting plans/initiatives, setting goals, building accountability, and measuring progress

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and profit in Meat Prepared Food and Freezer/Cooler area by managing merchandise presentation, pricing, inventory, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis
  • Manage and enforce department standards by evaluating products, removing substandard items, training associates, ensuring sanitation/food safety compliance, improving in-stock/production planning, and managing equipment/backroom/sales floor organization
  • Manage area performance by reviewing sales/production/food safety metrics, closing performance gaps, ensuring compliance (FDA/OSHA), assisting with training, implementing process improvements, and adjusting processes as needed
  • Oversee food safety standards, cold chain compliance, and merchandise quality by evaluating temperature/storage, sanitation, date coding, rotation, recalls, and training associates
  • Create budgets for sales, expenses, wages; monitor club indexing and ensure budgeted numbers/staffing levels are met
  • Work as part of management team to follow opening/closing procedures, communicate transitions, discuss merchandising/scheduling/associate issues, and handle escalations/resources
  • Plan production, labor, and execution for major events by reviewing/modifying production plans and schedules based on holidays, events, weather, member traffic, and business results
  • Ensure membership growth by enhancing member experience, building relationships, conducting business visits, requesting COTC merchandise, and training/scheduling member service associates
  • Coordinate, complete, and oversee job-related activities by maintaining stakeholder relationships, supporting customer/business plans, communicating goals, building accountability, and measuring results
