Requirements

High school graduate or GED
At least 2 years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis with hydraulic and diesel repair experience
Graduation from an automotive trade school with diesel engine experience highly desirable
Valid state driver's license
Obtain Class A CDL within 12 months of entry date into the Fleet Technician B classification
Obtain Fluid Power Society Certification and two applicable ASE certifications within 24 months of entry date

Responsibilities

Service and repair boom/pedestal assemblies including troubleshooting, inspecting cables/chains/rods/sheave liners/monitoring system/fiberglass/turntable/pins/bushings/bearings, removing/replacing reduction gearboxes, and load testing boom assemblies
Service and repair hydraulic systems including troubleshooting, inspecting/removing/replacing hydraulic pumps/motors/valves/cylinders/accumulator, and removing/replacing swivel collector block
Service and repair heating and ventilation systems including diagnosing A/C issues, pressure testing, leak checking, checking controls, replacing compressor/clutch/seals/refrigerant hose/condenser/receiver dryer/evaporator core
Troubleshoot and repair winch assemblies
Service and repair steering systems including power steering pump and manual steering gearbox
Service and repair air brake systems including air compressors, air brake chambers, and air control valves
Service and repair hydraulic and electric braking systems including inspecting/repairing master cylinder, testing power unit/vacuum supply/power boost, repairing power brake system, and servicing antilock brake system
Inspect and service differentials, power dividers, transmission assemblies, manual clutch, manual transmissions, transfer cases, transaxles, and automatic transmissions
Service and repair fuel and exhaust systems including computer control, testing/repairing diesel fuel pump, inspecting/servicing intake/turbo/fuel injection/governors
Assist others in diagnosing more complex problems
Operate Company vehicles and associated equipment and perform incidental duties
Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in clean and orderly condition
Maintain records and submit reports as required
Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in training other employees
Perform less skilled work as assigned
Report irregularities and abnormal conditions
Assist employees of equal or higher classification
Direct the work of employees assigned to assist
