Requirements

5+ years building distributed systems, data pipelines, and infrastructure at scale
Experience managing engineering teams of 3-8 people
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), container orchestration (Kubernetes/ECS), and operating services at scale
Experience building reliable systems that handle large data volumes and complex workloads
Experience building comprehensive monitoring and alerting, knowing key metrics and how to surface information to teams
Comfortable working directly with researchers and data scientists, translating needs into engineering solutions
Humility and open mindedness

Responsibilities

Build the platform infrastructure for ML at scale, leading the team powering Runway's machine learning pipeline from data processing through model training to production inference
Work closely with research teams to build robust, scalable systems that enable fast iteration
Build monitoring, alerting, and automation around critical multi-day training runs on hundreds of GPUs to catch problems early
Maintain the platform for model evaluation and exploration, enabling inspection of training data, visualization of outputs, and evaluation of model checkpoints; build tools bridging infrastructure and research workflows
Own the inference pipeline serving Runway's products, implementing monitoring and alerting for performance and reliability
Lead GPU capacity planning to balance cost and user experience as demand grows
Manage the current and growing team of 5 engineers
