Experience building SaaS platforms, APIs, and full-stack web applications is required, along with familiarity with architecture patterns for reliable communications platforms and scaling systems. Proven ability to grow engineers' careers, build high-performing teams, and create strong team culture is essential, as is the ability to balance long-term platform evolution with delivering incremental customer value and strong collaboration skills with product, design, and cross-functional peers.
The Engineering Manager will lead and support a team of engineers, setting clear expectations, providing coaching, and fostering growth. They will drive technical decisions, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and secure, and ensure observability and operational maturity in all systems. The manager will partner closely with the product trio to make sound product and technical decisions, mitigate risks, and maintain delivery commitments, while also collaborating cross-functionally to align on goals and drive company-wide initiatives. They will set ambitious, achievable goals, hold the team accountable to results, maintain a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement, and establish and monitor metrics for team and system health. Participation in incident response, including serving as Incident Commander when needed, and leading post-incident learning are also key responsibilities.
