Requirements

  • Expertise in designing, implementing, and controlling systems for assembling, testing, and integrating electronics into HDD products
  • Ability to monitor operations, troubleshoot production issues, and support continuous improvement of PCBA yield and cost reduction
  • Knowledge of new product introduction processes for PCBA, including development builds, transition to Low and High-Volume Manufacturing (LVM/HVM), and sustaining through End of Life (EOL)
  • Familiarity with EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services), SMT (Surface Mount Technology) processes, and quality requirements
  • Proficiency in managing BOM (Bill of Material) revisions, engineering documents, and Revision Change Orders (RCO/NRCO) approved by ECB (Engineering Change Board)
  • Experience with production oversight areas: ECAT, Servo Write, Functional Test, SRST, Feature Test, OQA, and ORT
  • Skills in data analytics for monitoring metrics like Overall Yield, First-Time Yield (FTY), Rolling Throughput Yield (RTY), EC (Error Codes), and RTR
  • Ability to engage with SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), development teams, and functional teams for qualifications, Master Test Plan (MTP), and grandfathering plans

Responsibilities

  • Architect the manufacturing workflow for HDD Electronics, including assembly, test, and integration systems
  • Support new product introduction: ensure timely builds and efficient transitions of development PCBAs to EMS and factory until EOL
  • Ensure 100% execution-free product transfer to EMS based on capability, SMT process, and quality requirements
  • Deliver requirements and processes to monitor product performance in sustaining/HVM, including engineering document releases at EMS for BOM revisions
  • Manage post-transfer qualification for electrical components, engaging SMEs and teams to finalize MTP and grandfathering plans
  • Provide end-to-end oversight of electronics production processes and stations: ECAT, Servo Write, Functional Test, SRST, Feature Test, OQA, and ORT
  • Work with development teams to improve manufacturability and reduce production costs
  • Release and prepare engineering documents, including component build matrices, for development PCBA builds at EMS and factory
  • Perform component changes and BOM updates via RCO/NRCO upon ECB approval
  • Provide non-moving disposition and prepare conversion lists for rework PCBA activities
  • Support HDD logistics and shipment for CFT (Card Function Test) at EMS
  • Monitor production using metrics and data analytics to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities (e.g., Yield, FTY, RTY, EC related to PCBA, RTR)
