Requirements

  • Technical expertise in process control, including design, controls philosophy, implementation, and commissioning
  • Experience with DCS (e.g., DeltaV) and SCADA software design, coding/configuration, testing (sequence logic, graphics, batch software)
  • Proficiency in automation engineering activities such as design, tuning, and troubleshooting of control loops
  • Knowledge of functional requirements, design specifications, test specifications, and participation in FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests)
  • Ability to lead and oversee work of site area leads, system integrators, and teams of automation engineers during commissioning
  • Skills in developing and implementing automation engineering project plans and process control strategies in collaboration with process engineering
  • Experience implementing and supporting electronic systems (e.g., plant historians, applications, software integration) for production data
  • Capability to maintain validated state of control systems per GMP and Lilly quality standards, including validation strategies and documentation
  • Automation support for capital projects, including new product introductions
  • Mentoring and leadership skills for process control teams
  • Ability to provide technical leadership, status updates to project management, and participate in design reviews

Responsibilities

  • Provide automation support for operating areas across site and/or capital projects
  • Ensure reliable and compliant control applications and systems in manufacturing
  • Mentor process control team on design, controls philosophy, implementation, and commissioning
  • Develop and implement the Automation Engineering Project Plan
  • Technically lead and oversee site area leads and system integrator work, including functional requirements, design specifications, DCS application software, and test specifications
  • Lead/participate in design reviews, DeltaV application software reviews, and attend equipment/software FATs
  • Lead a team of automation engineers supporting commissioning
  • Provide periodic status updates to project management
  • Devise functional requirements and process control strategies for control systems in collaboration with process engineering
  • Perform DCS and SCADA software design, coding/configuration, and testing
  • Conduct automation engineering activities including design, tuning, and troubleshooting of control loops
  • Implement and support electronic systems for process automation production data
  • Maintain validated state of site control systems per Lilly quality standards, including validation strategies and documentation
  • Provide automation support for capital projects, including new product introductions
  • Promote use of automation to improve productivity
