Requirements

  • High School or GED degree (must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
  • At least 5 years of fire emergency response AND/OR refinery emergency response experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (including respirator)
  • Able to physically perform all tasks in the field
  • Able to pass hair drug test and physical
  • Valid driver’s license (MPC determines valid status)
  • Able to obtain a TWIC Card
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without need for future VISA sponsorship
  • Address within 50 miles of the Kenai Refinery (relocation not available)
  • Available for 9/80 schedule, core hours 7 AM - 4 PM, after hours calls for emergency events, and support of TAR once every three years
  • Travel 10% or less
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • State of Alaska Fire Instructor certification
  • State of Alaska Fire Officer certification
  • CPR First Aid Instructor certification

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the Refinery Emergency Response Teams staffing and responds to serious incidents as appropriate and directed
  • Supports development and facilitation of emergency planning and response drills, including employee incipient and first responder operations fire training programs
  • Serves as an instructor for industrial fire, rescue, hazmat, First Aid, AED, and CPR training as related to protection of the Refinery
  • Aids development of the emergency response team (ERT) and establishment of field incident command protocol, emergency response, and incident command plans
  • Supports required testing and maintenance of the emergency mobile apparatus, associated equipment, and fixed fire detection and suppression systems as recommended by the manufacturer
  • Performs inspection, testing, and maintenance of safety and emergency response equipment
  • Remains informed of current fire and emergency response regulations, trends, and technical advances in extinguishing agents, appliances, and techniques of fire control and training
  • Ensures completion and retention of all necessary refinery and governmental records related to fire protection and ERT training
  • Provides onsite medical care up to first aid to employees and contractors, as approved by the Medical Director
