Requirements

  • Proven ability to manage a team of software developers (typically 5 to 10 engineers)
  • Experience of delivering safety related projects and working to associated processes (e.g. DO178C or equivalent)
  • Proven record of managing a software budget and confidence to control change to requirements and costs against an agreed estimate/budget
  • Understanding of the embedded software development process in ‘C’
  • Project management skills to ensure good planning, delivery and cost control of software
  • Good understanding of software and the software development lifecycle including configuration management tools and techniques, to provide effective oversight
  • Ability to understand requirements, design and verification and validation solutions to produce accurate and cost-effective estimates of work
  • British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship (security clearance requirements)
  • Ability to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS)

Responsibilities

  • Provide inspiration and leadership to software teams
  • Ensure process adherence and quality focus in developing safety-critical software
  • Apply innovative software development methods and techniques for efficiency improvements
  • Build high-performing teams and create strong working relations in multidiscipline project environments (including financial/budget control, system design, electronic design, safety, security & quality)
  • Lead delivery of actuation software as a key component in missile programmes
  • Collaborate with System Engineers, algorithm focused Servo Engineers, Product Verification and Equipment Design Authority
