Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  • Two (2) years or more of experience required
  • A valid driver's license
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Able to work off-hour duties such as plant shutdowns and routine on-call support
  • Able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery and be able to physically perform all tasks in the field
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) plus years of post-degree engineering experience working with instrumentation in the refining, petrochemical, or other related heavy industry
  • Experience with instrument system design, applicable standards, and repairs as well as associated equipment specific failure modes
  • Experience with Rosemount and Honeywell temperature, level, flow, and pressure transmitters, Honeywell control systems, analyzers, Triconex SIS, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), emergency shutdown (ESDs), and HVAC systems

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance/troubleshooting assistance in resolving electrical, instrumentation, and/or analyzer design, operation, and maintenance problems within all assigned area teams; contacts internal and external experts as required
  • Utilizes reliability tools such as reliability analytics, failure evaluations, and cost analysis to improve reliability of electrical, instrument, and/or analyzer equipment/systems
  • Writes PRFs for reliability improvement projects, equipment upgrades, etc. including financial justification (life cycle cost analysis) and facilitates DSP development. Champions MOC as appropriate
  • Reviews turnaround work lists and scopes for critical equipment
  • Helps establish equipment monitoring plans and control limits
  • Ensures equipment repairs meet or exceed OEM specifications
  • Develops and maintains settings and specifications specific to power distribution, controls/logic, and/or SIS, etc
  • Develops and manages system studies with applicable analysis tools
  • Conducts post-audits to measure the effectiveness of significant reliability related projects and activities
  • Provides technical assistance to aid decision-making on repair solutions during turnarounds and unplanned equipment outages
  • Reviews corporate specifications for potential improvement based on industry and site-specific experience as appropriate
  • Provides technical expertise and support to capital project development
