Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Equivalent (GED)
  • Completion of the IEC Apprenticeship program and a Georgia Electrical Contractors License (preferred). Other related educational degrees are accepted
  • Completion of annual training and/or IEC Instructor Certification course/s
  • Communication skills (developed syllabus, ability to speak to groups)
  • Classroom Management skills
  • Ability to use multiple training techniques including presentation and lecture, hands-on practice, partner member presentations, and group presentations
  • Knowledge of the IEC National Curriculum
  • Ability to enforce Electrical Safety Procedures (Eye protection, Lock out Tag out procedures)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the IEC Apprenticeship training curriculum to students
  • Provide technical support and supervision to apprentices
  • Develop a lesson plan for each course date to ensure all learning objectives are covered
  • Prepare and conduct hands-on learning exercises related to the IEC National Curriculum
  • Communicate effectively with students and develop good study habits
  • Complete administrative work on time (grade submissions, attendance records)
  • Attend instructor meetings as required (monthly and annually)
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations, visual aids, and other training materials
  • Facilitate partner member training and technical expert sessions
  • Maintain classroom order and enforce discipline
  • Assist students with extra help outside of class time
