Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of mechanic work experience or graduation/student status from an industrial maintenance training program (combination of experience and education acceptable)
  • Experience in ammonia refrigeration preferred; HVAC experience welcomed
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret equipment manuals and technical instructions
  • Ability to complete computer-based training and use Tyson SAP software
  • Basic knowledge in electrical troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, and move around the department; work around moving conveyor belts and machines
  • Ability and willingness to work in a refrigerated environment (28-45°F)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds daily and stand for up to 12 hours
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends if required
  • Ability to pass a yearly hazmat physical and participate in response team activities

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, adjust, and maintain the operation of the ammonia refrigeration system
  • Operate and maintain HVAC systems, hot water, compressed air, and waste treatment systems safely and efficiently
  • Complete computerized training programs and document preventative maintenance routines using Tyson SAP software as scheduled
  • Participate in training and skill development in all areas of responsibility
  • Practice safety standards, policies, and procedures (safety first)
