Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED/equivalent degree, plus 1 year of tractor-trailer driving experience preferred (tractor-trailer driving school completion accepted instead of or in addition to high school diploma)
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Must be insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of initial and continued employment
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Hazmat guidelines, and safe lifting and delivery practices
  • Skill in driving over long distances, over a variety of terrains and in varying weather conditions, communicating with customers, solving problems, and delivering product
  • Ability to drive a tractor-trailer unit both day and night in various traffic and weather conditions while remaining alert; meet or exceed minimum productivity levels; operate 3-axle tractor, 45'-48' trailer, straight truck, onboard computer keypad, and 2-wheel hand cart
  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway signs/signals, respond to inquiries, and make report entries
  • Ability to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide); plan and organize work independently; solve problems
  • Physical ability to sit, talk, hear regularly; occasionally lift, push, or move up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Safely transports product from warehouse to customer location on a timely basis according to assigned route; loads and unloads product per customer specifications
  • Completes all paperwork accurately and on time per company and governmental guidelines (e.g., DOT logs, inspections, maintenance reports, pre/post-trip reports, invoices matching bill of ladings)
  • Ensures food safety protocols are met (e.g., maintains proper temperatures in delivery vehicle)
  • Follows preferred work methods; immediately reports unsafe conditions to management
  • Maintains and safely operates assigned equipment (e.g., pallets, load bars, SLS unit, PPE)
  • Develops good customer relationships through excellent, courteous service and clear communication
  • Communicates route deviations, trailer/loading issues, or customer/product issues to management
  • Works assigned schedule, including outside usual hours as needed; exhibits regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned by management
