Requirements

  • 10+ years experience designing women’s Sweaters, Knits and Woven Apparel with Italian tailoring knowledge & ability to do simple draping
  • 4+ years experience managing and mentoring teams
  • 2-4+ years experience with private label accessories (footwear, handbags, soft items & collaborations)
  • Proven track record of building and developing knit, sweater and woven businesses and have worked at scale
  • Deep technical knowledge of knitted fabric, sweaters yarns and woven fabrics & Italian tailoring/vendors
  • High competency with fittings (concise, directive communication to lead a cross-functional fitting)
  • Strong P.O.V on relevant trend
  • Experience with co-creation, testing off-shore and near-shore process
  • Passionate, enthusiastic, with an obsessive eye for detail along with an entrepreneurial spirit

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 6 to create commercially successful, relevant and timeless apparel products
  • Oversee product ideation to final pre-production prototypes, including design sketches and executions for Women’s Wovens, Knits, Sweaters and Accessories
  • Demonstrate leadership, use creative & analytical skills to set short-term and long-term strategy for function and people with clear goals
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners in Merchandising, Technical Design, Raw Materials, Sourcing, Production and peers in Women’s and Men’s design
  • Report directly to the VP of Design
  • Brainstorm new product concepts with VP of Design at Seasonal Product Ideation, with Merchandising partners and cross-functional thought partners at Product Milestone
  • Initiate product and fabric development to satisfy long-term business needs within Sustainability pipeline
  • Travel internationally and domestically for vendor direction, inspiration and fabric shows
  • Strategically develop and grow knit, sweater, woven, and accessories business in line with company targets defined by long-range plan
  • Design and develop core knits, sweaters, wovens, and accessories on a quarterly basis with strategic mindset for platformed fabrications
  • Prepare and present quarterly sketch reviews, check-ins with VP of Design along with pipeline milestone overlaps of seasons
  • Guide team to achieve an elevated fit direction (includes Italian workmanship)
  • Mentor and lead direct reports
  • In collaboration with Manager of Mens & Denim, manage calendar, budget and team activities from weekly touch bases to milestone engagement
