Requirements

Candidates must possess over 10 years of experience in Data Science and Engineering within a corporate setting, with at least 4 years in a management role. A Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Transportation, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field is required. The role demands the ability to analyze technical details of safety research and autonomous vehicle systems, generate insights from large datasets, and proficiency in SQL and/or Python. Proven experience in managing data science projects from inception to completion, delivering business outcomes, strong business consulting skills, and demonstrated leadership in developing talent are also essential. Experience in safety, automotive, or robotics data science is preferred.

Responsibilities

The Director of AV Safety Data Science will define performance targets and measurement strategies for autonomous vehicle safety and compliance. They will develop scalable solutions to verify safe on-road behavior, continuously improve safety measurements, and create feedback loops for software enhancements. This role involves leading and managing a team of data scientists, statisticians, and engineers, providing guidance and mentorship. Collaboration with various autonomous vehicle development teams, staying current with industry trends in data science and AI/ML, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning are key responsibilities. Effective management and allocation of team resources are also required.
