Candidates should possess a minimum of two to four years of medium/heavy truck Fleet mechanic repair experience, along with diagnostic, electrical, and AC skills. Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required, and previous fleet experience with familiarity of diesel and gasoline systems is preferred.
The Diesel Technician/Mechanic will diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs, including adjusting/testing steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions and oil, temperature, gas regulating components, and adjusting/testing/rebuilding engines. They will also test-drive vehicles to ensure repairs are resolved, arrange for and obtain inspections, maintain a safe work area, record maintenance details, perform road calls and on-the-road repairs, and advise the Lead Technician of unsafe conditions or vehicle abuse.
