Requirements

  • Six (6) months of Diesel Mechanic experience or graduate of Diesel Mechanic Training Program (documented on application or resume)
  • Six (6) months of continuous work history with one employer within the last twenty-four (24) months
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willing and able to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic computer skills to document information, process work orders, and complete documentation
  • Ability to diagnose and repair truck engines and systems using diagnostic programs
  • Ability to perform minor structural welding and cutting tasks
  • Ability to safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with transportation personnel (managers, drivers, clerks)
  • Advance to ME02 within 12 months of hire (or considered unable to meet job requirements)
  • Show proficiency in: identifying fault codes, basic electrical, wheel end class/certification, brake inspector certification, standard preventive maintenance (PM1’s, PM2’s for trucks or trailers)
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance repairs on trucks
  • Perform emergency mechanical or electrical repairs on trucks
  • Comply with Department of Transportation rules and regulations
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Adhere to Tyson policies and procedures
  • Perform service calls on equipment at remote locations (as required)
