Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3 to 8 years relevant experience
  • Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Working Knowledge - Generates specifications for parts with CAD software (e.g., Creo) and handles it in Teamcenter database; Reuses design components via reusable libraries following standard procedures; Uses CAD to perform basic drafting such as transmission components, solid objects and array of objects; Performs packaging analysis and concludes space requirement; Good to have knowledge about Spline strength prediction and Basic FEA
  • Analytical Thinking: Working Knowledge - Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance; Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions; Uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns; Identifies the major forces, events and people impacting and impacted by the situation; Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions
  • Effective Communications: Working Knowledge - Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviours without offending the recipient; Listens to feedback
  • Knowledge of product features to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production
  • Knowledge of different manufacturing processes (e.g., Forging, Casting, Machining, Heat treatment and Gear Manufacturing)

Responsibilities

  • Assist and drive initiatives to improve Cost, Quality and Velocity for current transmission product
  • Serve as first level point of contact for different Engineering activities
  • Organize, coordinate, and execute the building, testing, and analysis of prototypes
  • Prepare DFMEA, DVPR, Tolerance stack-up for product and its subsystems
  • Prepare and present topics in design review for CFT approvals
  • Analyse root cause for field failure issues and provide corrective actions
  • Research new materials and competitive products using benchmarking and reverse engineering approaches
  • Assist supply specialists and buyers with supplier development and supplier performance
  • Oversee the efforts of drafting and testing specialists
  • Develop and document functional requirements and translate into detail design documents
  • Participate in buy-build analysis for product components
  • Participate in and support proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports
  • Perform at least 2-3 concurrent activities/commodities (e.g., Housing/Shaft/gears/valves/pump) without reducing productivity
  • Designs, develops, builds, and implements new components, products, or technologies for Manual and automatic Transmissions and its subsystem components for application in small wheel Loader, Telehandler and Backhoe Loader
