Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Information Security or related field
  • Basic understanding of privacy, data management principles, and database concepts
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, including threat modeling, application security testing, and secure software development practices
  • A passion for computers and security
  • Desire to learn and have a strong sense of curiosity
  • Able to commit to a 12-week internship beginning in May or June of 2026, and available full-time (M-F 9am - 5 pm)
  • Ability to relocate to the Bay Area, California for the duration of the internship
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capacity to break down complex concepts for various audiences
  • Familiarity with data flow diagram methodologies or a strong interest in learning visual process documentation
  • Familiarity with networking concepts (how websites work, how ports and IP addresses work, how encryption works, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in mapping and creating Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs) to visually represent how customer data is captured, processed, stored, and shared across various applications, systems, and vendors
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate data security risks
  • Work closely within the InfoSec team to address security concerns and help with incident response
  • Support the development and implementation of data protection strategies and initiatives
  • Review and improve InfoSec controls to ensure they are up to date and fully applied
  • Query databases and manipulate data to prepare datasets for analysis, focusing on human behavior
  • Assist in creating reports, charts, and graphs to present findings and insights on data flows to stakeholders
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to discussions on data security issues and solutions
