Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Quantitative disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience
  • Solid foundations in math and probability theory & statistics
  • Expertise in one or more of: machine learning, Deep Learning, GenAI, Natural Language Processing, or computer vision
  • Understand and actively follow foundational programming principles (best practices, unit tests, code organization, basics of CI/CD)
  • Create well-maintainable & tested codebase with relevant documentation
  • Develop in one or more approved programming languages (Java, Scala, Python, R)
  • Adhere to best practices in data analysis and data understanding
  • Follow agile processes
  • Implement prototypes for individual components of software or data science solutions
  • Understand and leverage basic data structures and algorithms
  • High-level understanding of business domain, Target business priorities, strategic goals, and specific business sub-problem

Responsibilities

  • Influence by interacting within the Data Sciences team
  • Perform within the scale and scope of role by implementing solutions
  • Contribute to Data Sciences’ and Target’s culture by modelling the culture
  • Develop and manage state-of-the-art GenAI, Computer Vision, NLP, and ML algorithms
  • Harness Target’s data breadth to build algorithms powering solutions for partners (e.g., Mech/item Digital)
  • Perform modelling and data science
  • Conduct software/product development of highly performant code for Model Performance
  • Elevate Target’s culture
  • Apply retail domain knowledge
  • Collaborate with peers on their product
  • Document and present work to peers
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Gain broader understanding of different components within the application
