Candidates must possess at least a Master's degree in a quantitative discipline, with a PhD being a plus. A minimum of 5 years of postgraduate experience in a related quantitative field is required, preferably within the insurance industry. Proficiency in R (and Python) for coding, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling is essential, including regression-like methods, modern ML, survival analysis, and discrete data. Familiarity with Linux, SQL, and Shiny is desirable. Excellent communication skills in English are necessary, with other languages being beneficial. The ability to lead complex projects independently while also being an effective team player is crucial.
The Data Scientist will provide advice and expertise to internal and external clients through consultative activities, data analysis, and the development and deployment of predictive models. Responsibilities include importing, wrangling, and analyzing data to estimate morbidity and mortality targets, performing data-driven storytelling through presentations and publications, researching the application of analytics to new and existing areas, and developing self and others in analytic techniques.
