Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Statistics, Data Science, Applied Urban Science and Informatics, or related field
  • 2 years of experience as a Data Science Manager, Sr. Data Scientist, Data Scientist, Statistician, or similar duties under a different job title
  • 2 years of experience in the following:
  • Programming in R or Python
  • Using Apache Spark with application to machine learning or ETL pipelines
  • Linux or Unix; git and github.com
  • Implementing predictive modelling using at least 3 of the following: scikit-learn, xgboost, Spark ML, or H2O.ai
  • 1 year of experience with AWS S3

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Product team, Project Management team, and Senior Director of Data Science to plan and strategize data-science-driven solutions for the company’s business goals; draft and review business requirement documents; contribute to data science project plans
  • Implement industry-leading predictive-modelling solutions in support of the company’s syndicated products, and to enable managed service work
  • Manage a Data Scientist, including assist in hiring and onboarding, set personal goals, conduct semi-annual performance reviews, track progress regularly via one-on-one meetings, and provide advice and mentoring on all relevant projects and work
  • Monitor security risks and implications of access to certain types of data
  • Test and augment the functionality of algorithms, both in isolation and within a production-style pipeline
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Analytics Team to fulfill their managed service client deliverables
