Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 2 years of custodial or facilities experience (school environment preferred)
  • Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and safe chemical handling
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment and tools (vacuums, floor buffer, carpet extractor, etc.)
  • Team-oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to respond promptly to school facility needs and emergencies

Responsibilities

  • Assess all areas of the school throughout the day and clean as necessary
  • Prepare, stage, and maintain an adequate supply of cleaning materials and equipment
  • Comply with chemical handling laws, HAZMAT regulations, and safety protocols
  • Interact professionally with school administration, staff, and students
  • Clean and maintain facilities including classrooms, break rooms, conference rooms, hallways, gymnasiums, lunchrooms, nurses’ rooms, stages, and lobbies
  • Perform daily cafeteria and event set-up as needed
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors; clean and polish walls, windows, ceilings, and fixtures
  • Launder towels and mop heads; dust furniture, light fixtures, baseboards, desks, and equipment
  • Collect and dispose of trash across campus, including outdoor areas
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms daily
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as light bulb and filter changes
  • Maintain and service custodial equipment daily
  • Apply wax or sealers to floors as directed by the Head of Operations/Facilities Manager
  • Assist with campus security, including unlocking/locking doors and gates
  • Report supply needs to the Office Manager and facility repair needs to the Head of Operations/Facilities Manager
  • Safely operate custodial tools and equipment, including vacuums, floor buffers, carpet extractors, utility carts, and small power tools
  • Other duties as assigned
