At least 5 years of experience in corporate credit analysis; experience in covering Asian corporates is a plus
Outstanding skills in conducting in-depth, first-hand bottom-up credit research, specifically within sectors including on-site visits, financial modeling, and relative value analysis
Demonstrable ability to understand and assess macro top-down sector and industry trends and make judgments regarding credit, risk, and valuation
Ability to take the lead in advocating investment ideas to portfolio managers rather than relying on consensus view or external direction
Good communicator with strong written and oral presentation abilities; needs to be persuasive and credible
Values seeing one’s investment ideas added to investment portfolios and enjoys credit analysis as a long-term career
Strong academic credentials and achievement; MBA preferred; CMA and/or CFA a plus
Responsibilities
Focus on Japan corporate credit coverage mainly in sectors such as autos, consumer, utilities, property, general trading companies etc
Provide fundamental and relative value research on existing holdings and generate credit driven investment ideas to regional and global portfolio managers
Proactively communicate investment ideas by initiating discussions with portfolio managers in global offices, particularly with those based in Tokyo and other offices in Asia Pacific region, and participating in investment committee discussions
Produce written reports in English such as company evaluations and quarterly updates, earnings forecast, relative value analyses, and industry reviews
Respond and present in English to portfolio manager inquiries regarding credit concerns, market overviews, and sector trend changes
Provide presentations to clients on sector views and trends as well as provide teach-in / academia sessions
