Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
  • Master's in taxation is a bonus
  • 7+ years of corporate tax or public accounting experience, with exposure to corporate tax compliance and reporting
  • Proactive, self-starter who takes ownership, drives initiatives, and consistently exceeds expectations
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations and corporate tax compliance
  • Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Ability to interpret tax legislation, conduct detailed tax research, and apply findings to compliance and planning
  • High level of accuracy in preparing returns, provisions, and supporting documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions

Responsibilities

  • Interact with external tax advisors on the accurate and timely preparation of federal, state, and local returns for the enterprise, including property taxes and sales & use taxes
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors on the accurate and timely preparation of international tax returns
  • Maintain and reconcile tax accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reporting
  • Prepare documentation and workpapers to support tax filings, audits, and internal reviews
  • Coordinate the review and collection of data to support tax deductions and/or credits, including the company’s Research & Development credit
  • Coordinate with auditors and regulatory agencies during tax audits and examinations
  • Oversee timely preparation and distribution of K-1s to shareholders and partners
  • Respond to tax notices, audits, or correspondence from taxing authorities
  • Maintain internal documentation and calendars to manage all tax-related deadlines
  • Complete annual training to stay abreast of tax legislation and regulations updates
  • Assist in developing and executing tax strategies to minimize liabilities while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
  • Conduct detailed tax research and provide guidance on the tax implications of business transactions, new legislation, and corporate initiatives, including both the company level and individual company profit center level
  • Work with tax advisors in providing quarterly estimates of current year tax obligations
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support tax considerations in mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic projects
  • Update tax estimates quarterly in conjunction with FP&A team
  • Manage quarterly estimated tax payments and extensions
  • Stay current on tax legislation changes and advise management on potential impacts and opportunities and advise on any developments impactful to the business
  • Prepare annual update for ownership on changes to tax code, implications of any future changes, as well as a general overview of taxing environments the company is subject to
  • Support the development and implementation of internal controls, policies, and procedures related to taxation
  • Identify, recommend, and implement, as appropriate, improvements to streamline tax compliance processes and reporting efficiency
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping, documentation, and adherence to corporate governance standards
  • Conduct training tailored to certain tax initiatives
