Requirements

  • Solid understanding of music copyright and publishing, as well as working knowledge of operational Copyright processes (preferred)
  • Tech-savvy, analytical, with experience working with Excel crunching numbers or large data sets
  • Strong communication skills for high level of internal and external communication
  • Strong attention to detail and detail-driven mindset
  • Natural team-player and self-starter with excellent organization and prioritization skills
  • Comfortable reading legal documents and understanding how they support registration claims worldwide
  • Additional language skills desirable (not essential)
  • Personable, process-driven, curious, with interest and understanding in Music Publishing and Copyright

Responsibilities

  • Confirm accurate registration of songs and publishing agreements that Kobalt represents on behalf of clients worldwide
  • Handle queries from collection societies in North America and Latin America (e.g., ASCAP, MLC, SOCAN, SACM) and sub-publishers regarding claims to Kobalt's catalog
  • Research within multiple industry databases to verify and update Kobalt’s claims for monetization
  • Coordinate with internal departments to assist with client-related questions and concerns on registrations, including collecting relevant documentation to prove claims
  • Provide support to colleagues within Kobalt on registration-related processes
  • Actively participate in team activities, support cross-functional workflows, and share information openly with colleagues in Legal, Royalties, Creative, etc
  • Contribute to process improvement and refinement to improve service levels
