- Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW: GBH Music
GBH Music curates and presents classical and jazz experiences across broadcast, digital, and in-person platforms.
- Anchored by 99.5 WCRB Classical Radio Boston and Classical.org, GBH Music offerings also include regionally syndicated broadcasts of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, WCRB In Concert, The Bach Hour, and weekend evening jazz programming on 89.7 FM.
- The team also produces online streams such as The Bach Channel, classical music and jazz newsletters, active social media channels, and a vibrant series of live and streamed performances from the acclaimed Fraser Performance Studio.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Content Producer will play a central role in creating and delivering high-quality classical and jazz content across radio, digital, and live platforms. Reporting to the Director of Production, this position requires a blend of creative vision, technical skill, and collaborative spirit. The ideal candidate will be passionate about music, comfortable working across media formats, and eager to contribute to a dynamic and evolving team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Bring a holistic approach - from broad vision to granular detail - to the production of radio and digital content, including live and pre-recorded concert broadcasts, live and pre-recorded video productions for digital platforms, and short-form social media video and audio.
- Assist with producing and potentially serve as a backup host for WCRB’s Boston Symphony Orchestra and other concert radio broadcasts.
- Produce in-person, radio, streaming, and/or television concert broadcasts and events in GBH’s Fraser Performance Studio, the GBH Studio at the Boston Public Library, and other venues.
- Support every stage of radio and video production, from legal contract coordination to research and scripting to smooth execution on the day of broadcasts and concerts.
- In partnership with the Manager of Digital Content, pitch and produce original digital-first content—especially vertical video—to grow audiences across GBH Music’s social media channels, including YouTube, Instagram, Classical.org, and streaming platforms.
- Bring a growth-oriented, collaborative, and creative approach to all aspects of the role.
- Willingness to learn on air hosting to provide a backup for regular air shifts, voice tracking and pledge drives.
- Must have schedule flexibility to work 8-10 weekends in western Mass. during the summer season, and reliable transportation to get there.
SKILL SET
- Required: Deep knowledge of classical music.
- Strongly Preferred: Extensive knowledge of jazz.
- Essential: A collaborative approach across to production and project management.
- Strongly Preferred: Strong skills with audio and video editing software.
- Essential: Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Also Preferred:
- Excellent writing skills in a variety of styles, including narrative and promotional.
- Digital marketing experience.
- Ability to learn and work in a website CMS.
- A good ear for what makes compelling audio.
- Preference for: Effective on-air hosting/announcing as an appealing on-air presenter of classical music with a friendly, conversational, welcoming delivery.
- Required: Ability to think quickly and ad-lib.
