Minimum of 2 years of hands-on welding and fabrication shop experience
Minimum of 3 years supervisory or progressively responsible experience in a lead role
3-5 years of experience in Fleet Maintenance, Operations, trucking industry, or related field (preferred)
Experience leading a team and/or managing direct reports
Welding certification or demonstrated ability/experience
Knowledge of OSHA compliance components impacting container shop operations, state departments of environmental quality, vector control programs, and ANSI
Effective communication skills
Customer service orientation
Ability to act with and promote ethical behavior
Ability to anticipate business needs and plan accordingly
Organizational skills to maintain records

Responsibilities
Oversee overall safety, performance, and maintenance of compactor and container shop
Supervise employees performing compactor and container shop activities, including hiring decisions/recommendations, training, evaluation, coaching, counseling, performance management, and salary/promotion recommendations
Develop work schedules based on historical, forecasted, and known needs to meet throughput goals
Review work orders, assign tasks to employees, verify quality of work, and provide training/guidance
Oversee administrative matters including production records, goal setting, inventory planning, and demand planning
Conduct and/or participate in regular facility audits
Maintain open communication with local division, area, and corporate staff
Work with local and national sales teams to ensure adequate container inventory for contractual obligations
Interact with customers to address compactor equipment issues and achieve timely resolutions
Monitor and control operational performance, redirect activities as needed, report on department performance, and make improvement recommendations
Serve as first level supervisor in employee internal dispute resolution process
