Requirements

  • Degree in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (e.g., General Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Forensics, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Information Assurance, or Computer Security). Up to 18 semester hours of military training/coursework in networking, computer science, or cyber topics is equivalent to an Associate degree
  • Relevant experience in computer or information systems design/development, programming, information/cyber/network security, vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, computer forensics, information assurance, and/or systems engineering. Additionally, experience in network or system administration
  • Military training equivalencies (e.g., JCAC, UCT, NWBC/INWT, Cyber Defense Operations) count toward experience (20-24 weeks = 6 months; 10-14 weeks = 3 months). Foreign language proficiency (with recent ILR scores) may satisfy some experience. Total equivalencies capped at half of required years
  • 11 years’ applicable experience with a bachelor’s degree, OR 13 years’ applicable experience with associate degree
  • Fully cleared with FSPoly
  • Ability to quickly become a subject matter expert on a designated advanced persistent threat group
  • Expertise in identifying malicious cyber activity utilizing a variety of sources, customer tools, and analytic methodologies
  • Ability to discover, understand, and characterize infrastructure and tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) utilized by cyber actors to conduct malicious cyber operations
  • Ability to develop signatures to discover and track malicious cyber activity to include bespoke malware and other TTPs
  • Ability to identify and characterize victims of malicious cyber activity
  • Experience translating analysis into intelligence products and ability to perform technical and analytic review of intelligence products

Responsibilities

  • Use information from various sources (e.g., intrusion detection systems, firewalls, network traffic logs, host system logs) to identify potential vulnerabilities, respond to cyber events, and defend against potential events
  • Help develop mitigations to strengthen network defenses and protect against attacks on network infrastructure devices or systems
  • Work across data transport possibilities, including traditional wired networks, wireless (Wi-Fi, cellular), collaborative platforms like video teleconferencing, and supporting hardware/software
  • Develop expertise in networking protocols and architectures, cloud security, Internet of Things protocols, and advanced network security
  • Collaborate with government, military, and contractor personnel to develop shared understandings of intelligence needs, mission relevance, and areas of expertise
  • Apply curiosity and analytical talent to form hypotheses, critically assess and choose analysis techniques, query, merge, enrich, evaluate, and pivot within data to attain and share insights
  • Distill, document, contextualize, and share findings—including new tradecraft—with teammates, stakeholders, and intelligence consumers
