Requirements

  • Valid Permanent Driver’s License with 1 year verifiable driving experience and clean safety record
  • Ability to pass a physical examination and drug screen
  • Ability to communicate in oral, written, and comprehensive form; complete production/receiving reports accurately and legibly by hand
  • Ability to use safe lifting techniques and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Perform simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) for recording information like bird weight, medications, feed intake, and mortality
  • Willingness to shower, change clothing/footwear, wear no jewelry (except medical ID), cover body piercings, and sign agreements for biosecurity/animal welfare guidelines; avoid contact with avian species

Responsibilities

  • Vaccinate and move birds to feed conversion houses, growing houses, laying houses, or live haul loading area (40%)
  • Set up poultry houses including cages, shavings, and spraying of pesticides (10%)
  • Clean and disinfect equipment and vehicles used in moving birds, supplies, or equipment on the farm (10%)
  • Wash and dry laundry daily (morning and afternoon) as per manager's schedule (10%)
  • Provide general farm labor including placing new shavings in poultry houses and maintaining/cleaning vaccinating equipment
  • Other duties as assigned, such as repairing cages/pens/equipment, farm cleanup (garbage/litter retrieval), and euthanizing weak/ill birds per company policy (10%)
