Requirements

  • Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview
  • Comply with biosecurity protocols: showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility; no jewelry except medical ID, body piercings covered
  • Preferred: previous agricultural or production experience
  • Willingness to undergo background check if required
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday from 5:00 am – 1:00 pm or until job is complete (schedule subject to change based on production needs)
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks including catching/handling birds, operating equipment (e.g., forklift, tractor, trimmer), and manual labor

Responsibilities

  • Rotate tasks of catching birds to hold for vaccination and performing vaccination on birds (20%)
  • Housing birds: catch birds, scan wing band for identification, place in pen/cage/trailer, attach badges using animal tag pliers (20%)
  • Hen removal and processing: remove wing/leg bands/badges with wire cutters, catch/load spent hens into trailers/modules, operate forklift for modules, catch birds and operate trimmer for toenail/beak trimming, euthanize pedigree birds and load incinerator (20%)
  • Litter management: remove used litter, place new shavings per schedule, maintain litter for flocks in production (15%)
  • Operate belts/augers to remove litter/spent feed, transport to litter shed, operate tractor with loader to mix litter for vendor removal (15%)
  • Other duties: obtain fat samples with scalpel for testing, spread shavings, sanitation, dispose of mortality/trash, maintain equipment (fluids, filters, tire pressure, cleaning/disinfecting), control vegetation (10%)
