Requirements

  • Previous experience in CNC operations and programming
  • Supporting qualifications in Machining
  • Ability to read technical drawings and develop concepts from discussion
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
  • Confidence in using measuring equipment, including Vernier calipers and micrometers
  • Understanding of quality products and fine tolerances
  • Development of tooling
  • Assist with purchasing machine tools, tool design and fixtures
  • Assist with service engineers for machines
  • Problem solving to introduce new product
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload to meet changing needs within the team
  • High standards and attention to detail
  • Ability to produce cost effective solutions and savings
  • Self-motivated and team player
  • Ability to use own initiative and to work unsupervised

Responsibilities

  • Conform to all Health, Safety and Environmental Procedures
  • Operate and set CNC machines
  • Set CNC machine tools, including Re-tip and DTI checking
  • Inspect own work including visual of 1st off inspection
  • Use of measuring equipment; Micrometres/Vernier calipers
  • Backing up of CNC programmes
  • Responsible for training new operators
  • Working with other areas to develop improvements and savings
  • Carrying out operator performed maintenance and 5S activity as required
  • Milling, turning, grinding, vertical and horizontal boring
