Requirements

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution
  • Completion of a residency program in psychiatry
  • Board certification or eligibility in psychiatry or child and adolescent psychiatry
  • Valid medical license to practice in the applicable state/province
  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, and abuse/neglect
  • Valid driver’s license in state of residency with an acceptable driving record
  • Must not be under any formal disciplinary action by state board(s)
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity to use hands and fingers for writing, typing, and manipulating controls

Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose, and create treatment plans for patients with mental health and/or addiction medicine concerns
  • Provide direct patient care, including psychiatric evaluations and medication management services
  • Participate in emergency services to offer rapid aid during emotional crises
  • Ensure comprehensive follow-up care for all clients
  • Join client staffing meetings to identify problems and establish treatment goals
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and staff development activities
  • Support management needs, such as data collection and program evaluation
  • Engage in public and community behavioral health education initiatives
  • Complete psychiatric evaluations and medication follow-up appointments in a timely manner
  • Offer medical/psychiatric consultation to internal staff and external entities as requested
  • Collaborate and provide support to assigned Nurse Practitioners, fellows, residents, and students
