Prior related work experience preferred
Certified as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Iowa preferred or must be obtained within 4 months of hire
CPR certification preferred
Child/Adult Abuse certification required within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

Communicates effectively with residents, patients, families, and coworkers to protect and promote each resident’s dignity, individuality, and rights
Recognizes and honors the resident/patient’s choice, privacy, dignity, and independence; provides input in the care planning process as a member of the multidisciplinary team
Provides or assists the resident/patient with daily needs and treatments in accordance with established policy and procedure, including bathing and dressing, shaving, oral hygiene, bed making, transferring, repositioning, toileting, serving/collecting food trays, feeding, answering call lights, ensuring a clean environment, transporting patients, assisting with ambulation, and orienting/reorienting patients
Performs or assists residents/patients in performing specific medical care activities in accordance with established policy and procedure, including restorative exercises, collecting specimens, bowel and bladder training, documenting cares, intake and output, baths, dietary intake/calorie counts on flow sheets, and providing feedback to nursing staff on status changes, pain management, and other concerns
Performs safety and infection control procedures to ensure a safe, clean environment, including following policies on fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plans, universal precautions, infection control, and hazardous/chemical communication
Demonstrates knowledge of the facility’s strategic and operational plans and actively supports them daily, including all facility functions
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
