Responsibilities

  • Reviewing borrower financial information, employment history, credit report, and other relevant documentation to assess risk
  • Evaluating loan applications against specific lender guidelines and mortgage industry standards
  • Indexing and organizing supporting documents and identifying gaps
  • Communicating with loan officers and processors for additional information or to clarify application details
  • Making recommendations for loan approval or denial based on thorough analysis of borrower financial profile
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements throughout the underwriting process
  • Reviewing and specifying loan conditions as necessary
  • Assisting senior underwriter with complex loan files and providing support as needed
  • Maintaining client SLA exceptions
  • Achieving individual Underwriter quality benchmark, production goal, and turn time
  • Validating Credit, Income, Asset & Collateral documents in line with client credit policy, procedures, and turnaround times
