Requirements

  • Full familiarity with computer programs such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, etc
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and understanding
  • Full familiarity with Rockwell PLC software and ability to design, write, and troubleshoot: RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, Studio 5000, Connected Components Workbench (CCW), FactoryTalk View Studio
  • Full familiarity with Rockwell hardware and ability to design, write, and troubleshoot: SLC 500, MicroLogix, CompactLogix, ControlLogix, Panelview, Powerflex
  • Familiarity with high-speed manufacturing and packaging processes, operations, and associated machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical prints
  • ABB & Fanuc Robot programming (and others)
  • Five years of industrial experience in maintenance or related field
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, climb/balance, stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl, talk/hear; occasionally sit; lift/move more than 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision
  • Ability to enter/egress/traverse areas inside/outside machinery and climb ladders for inspection

Responsibilities

  • Execute tasks in a safe manner and help develop a people safety first culture
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting using PLC and HMI code to diagnose downtime issues
  • Ownership of regular program backups and ensure program changes adhere to Shearer's safety and quality standards
  • Perform assigned maintenance tasks: preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and inspections
  • Develop and train maintenance personnel on control systems and functions
  • Provide recommendations for equipment upgrades to avoid obsolescence
  • Continually improve knowledge of advances in parts, equipment, and processes
  • Develop and execute PMs on controls equipment and control cabinets
  • Assist in developing baseline safe work performance expectations and work practices; identify and correct unsafe conditions/actions
  • Make changes to existing PLC and HMI programs to improve the process
  • Perform duties in a food-safe manner adhering to all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance team and other technical members to develop higher controls capabilities
