Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in precision mechanical assembly or related area
- Working knowledge of shop math and geometry
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and documents for machined parts and assemblies (highly desired)
- Preferred experience in Riveting, Nut Plates, Bearings, Bushings, Cold Bonding, Fabricating and installing Shims, Sealing, Bucking/Squeezing Rivets, and Grounding Blocks for integrated next-level assemblies
- Preferred knowledge in the use of various power-hand tools, drills, jigs, templates, boring and bucking equipment
- Good communication skills with the ability to work with others with a positive attitude
- May be required to meet certain certifications in the field
- Complies with safety training and policies
- Standard physical requirements
Responsibilities
- Accomplishes various production assembly functions that are somewhat complicated in nature
- Assembles products or sub-assemblies according to verbal or written instructions, or by following drawings or diagrams
- Sets up and operates a variety of assembly tools
- Uses precision measuring tools or equipment
- Uses hand tools and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications using jigs and templates when required
- Positions parts in specified relationship to each other under extremely close tolerance conditions
- Fastens parts together using an Orbital Riveting machine
- Loads and unloads previously setup machines such as arbor presses, drill presses, and milling machines
- Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repairs as necessary
- Trouble-shoots and reworks production items that do not meet specifications
- Tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications
- Ensures conformance to established procedures, quality levels, Engineering and Quality Policy, Customer Engineering and Specifications, and safe work habits
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions
- Provides training to less experienced assemblers or as directed by management
- Provides accurate information to supervisors and co-workers
- Acts as owner of safety for the area, ensuring all operators/visitors follow safety policy and wear proper PPE
