Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Appropriate basic mechanical skills and aptitude
  • Professional mechanical assembly or repair experience (preferred)
  • Appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills, including ability to understand written instructions, maintain production records, and perform routine calculations
  • Ability to work in manufacturing plant conditions (indoors, variable temperature, humidity, noise, dirt)
  • Ability to handle physical hazards (powered vehicles, sharp objects, moving machinery, compressed air, materials handling, hazardous materials like solvents, oils, grease, paint, fuels)
  • Essential physical functions (medium physical demands): regularly handle items up to 60 lbs floor to knuckle, pull/push up to 50 lbs, lift up to 35 lbs knuckle to shoulder, up to 25 lbs shoulder to overhead; frequent walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing; occasional sitting, twisting, elevated work, continuous standing

Responsibilities

  • Read information from blueprints, drawings, production records, written instructions, technical documents
  • Fit, position, and fasten components to build machinery or sub-assemblies using vises, clamps, wrenches, air-powered tools, pliers
  • Handle components and completed equipment, including operating equipment to move it and check functions using steering wheels, control levers, knobs, buttons while observing and evaluating
  • Use a computer to check location, inventory, and routing of parts
  • Record information electronically
  • Perform mechanical work building machinery using hand and power tools (wrenches, hammers, impact tools) on mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, and electrical systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned
