Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in video game development (preferred) or film, TV, or other entertainment experience
  • Wide artistic skillset and expert knowledge of art and design principles such as color, composition, anatomy, and light
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop; experience with 3D modeling software (Maya, Blender, etc.) is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present feedback and ideas in a compelling, clear, and concise manner
  • Self-starter, reliable, and passionate about work; committed to discipline and its challenges
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to each property’s art style
  • Console, PC, or mobile gamer with understanding of latest gaming trends and titles
  • Broad understanding of game development including latest art creation pipelines
  • Collaborative and sympathetic with willingness to learn and adapt to team and external developers' needs
  • Familiarity with 20th Century franchises (Live Action Films, 20th TV, TV Animation, FX, National Geographic, etc.)
  • Experience working on licensed properties is a plus
  • Digital portfolio demonstrating range of subject matters (characters, creatures, environments, vehicles, props)
  • Experienced game developer with wide generalist skillset in digital 2D and 3D methods, driven by traditional art foundational knowledge (digital painting, sketching, graphic design, basic 3D modeling)
  • Experience working with stylized characters and understanding of 2D animation (ideal)

Responsibilities

  • Work with external partners to guide visual development of games from concept through completion and live service
  • Report to the Lead Artist, providing updates on project progress and helping meet art team goals
  • Provide art feedback to external developers through drawovers, original art, written responses, and team discussions to ensure brand authenticity and quality
  • Establish high visual benchmarks and provide recommendations to improve visual design and execution of products
  • Create and explore visual designs that expand existing IP universe as needed
  • Problem-solve brand and visual design challenges to elevate products, characters, and worlds
  • Validate milestone submissions by playtesting game builds and reviewing art systems and assets
  • Communicate and collaborate directly with Production team and external partners
