Requirements

Candidates must be fluent in a generic analytics coding language such as R, Matlab, Python, or SQL. They should possess strong data needs analysis skills, including the ability to identify necessary data types and technical tests to validate hypotheses. Proven ability to articulate the business impact of data analysis and connect findings to specific decision points is required, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills for presenting technical information to non-technical audiences. A humble and receptive attitude toward feedback is also necessary. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated experience in end-to-end project execution, experience with time-series data, a blend of formal education and job experience in data science (ideally at the masters or doctorate level), and industry experience in defense, aerospace, or cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

The Applied Data Scientist will manage multiple engagements simultaneously, deconstruct complex business problems into testable hypotheses, and use data to deliver actionable insights. They will also be responsible for identifying the type of data and technical tests required to validate hypotheses and articulating the business impact of their data analysis findings.
